Position

Deltatre’s Android development team builds applications to run on millions of Android mobiles, tablets and TVs and provides the best user experience for watching video on-demand (movies and series) and live sport streams. As an Android engineer, you will pioneer new ways for consumers to interact with technology and deliver world-class experiences on emerging technologies working for major sports organisations, rights owners, media companies, and some of the world’s leading broadcasters.


Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced top-notch developer to grow with our dev team. You will be involved from conception to completion with projects that are technologically sound and aesthetically impressive.


Main duties are:

  • Developing new user-facing features for Android using Kotlin and Java
  • Building reusable components and libraries for future use
  • Translating designs and wireframes into high quality code
  • Optimizing components for maximum performance across a range of devices and screen sizes including mobiles, tablets and TVs
  • Leading a team of developers across regions

Requirements

A Software Engineer with a love for technology, and:

  • 5 years of relevant work experience with minimum 2 years as a Senior Android Engineer
  • Good knowledge of Android programming platform and SDK (4.0+)
  • Strong proficiency in Kotlin, as well as a working knowledge of Java
  • Thorough understanding of the Android system Framework APIs
  • Experience with Rx.Java and its core principles
  • Practice of Unit Testing using JUnit and Mockito
  • Knowledge of patterns applied in mobile programming (MVC, MVVM, delegation, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Google Play Services, Play Store account administration and submission
  • Knowledge of common debug and optimization techniques in mobile programming
  • A knack for instrumentation testing and optimization
  • Familiarity with code versioning tools such as Git and build automation systems
  • Experience with video playback in mobile or web applications, video production, audio/video encoding and transmuxing
  • Experience with the creation of frameworks/libraries to be embedded in other apps
  • Basic knowledge of iOS and Web programming platforms
  • Fluent in verbal and written English
  • Experience working for a global employer
  • Able to work on a hybrid basis with at least 2 days working in the Mumbai office in Goregaon
  • Knowledge and interest in cricket will be a bonus for this role

1.      WHICH PERSONAL DATA MAY BE COLLECTED

Data collected relates to general information contained in your Curriculum Vitae. In addition, the Company may also collect information resulting from the checking of your references (if carried out) such as membership of any institutions, academic records, employment history and any other information relevant in determining your suitability as a candidate. Information from your profile on professional networks (if applicable), notes taken during interviews and comments from other people such as your referees, which might arise during the selection process, may also be included. Data may be updated based on publicly available information and/or information gathered from third parties, and/or directly from you. Furthermore, the Company reserves the right to check the accuracy of the Data, particularly with regards to academic qualifications achieved, previous work experience, professional or company positions held, including by contacting the referees you have indicated, your previous employers and any other person with whom you may have come into contact during the course of your work.

2.      FOR WHAT PURPOSES YOUR PERSONAL DATA CAN BE USED


2.1. We need to collect and process your Data in order to search and select new personnel for the Company, and to complete pre-employment checks and to take pre-contractual measures adopted upon your request.

We will only process your Data, including special categories of personal data, within the limits indicated above, if:

1.      This is in line with applicable data protection legislation

2.      It is required in order for us check your knowledge and skills for the vacancy, and/or

3.      To comply with applicable laws, rules and regulations.

Deltatre may share your data with other companies, corporation or affiliates that directly or indirectly controls, is controlled by or is related with the Company (hereinafter, the “Group”), for purposes related or instrumental to the recruitment of new personnel for other positions opened at other Group companies, other than that for which you have applied, possibly also in relation to the jobs and/or workplace.

The Group of which the Company is part operates in a highly dynamic and constantly evolving context. It has been therefore necessary to implement a permanent and highly specialized recruitment process aimed at finding professional profiles that meet the needs of the Group time after time.

In this case, we need your consent to share your data. Without your consent your data will not be shared with the other companies of the Group for purposes related or instrumental to the recruitment of new personnel for other positions opened at other Group companies.

3.      HOW WE KEEP YOUR PERSONAL DATA SAFE AND FOR HOW LONG

Your Data will be processed in line with the principles of accuracy, lawfulness and transparency, and may also be processed using automated means (for example including, but not limited to, VOIP tools like skype and Zoom) that can memorise, manage and transmit such data. Data will be processed using suitable tools that guarantee its security and confidentiality using procedures that prevent the risk of loss, unauthorised access, unlawful use and dissemination.

Your Data will only be held for the time necessary for the purposes of personnel selection (for a specific position or for future positions potentially of interest). The Company will periodically check the Data and the possibility of deleting it if it is no longer necessary for its intended purposes.   

Notwithstanding the above, your Data will be held on the Company’s systems for no longer than 24 months from the date we receive it. After 24 months, your Data will be deleted or rendered anonymous. Deltatre needs to retain this data for this period due to the particular length and complexity of its recruiting process, and the uniqueness of the professional profiles required (with very specific sectoral skills), due to the continuous growth of the Group. As a result, the Company consistently seeks highly specialised resources. Additionally, the Company internal turnover is characterised by longer timings than other markets. 


4.      WHO WE CAN SHARE YOUR PERSONAL DATA WITH

Your Data may be accessed by duly-authorised employees from the Human Resources department and by external suppliers, appointed, if necessary, as data processors, who support us in providing services in connection with search and select new personnel for the Company.

For the same purposes, your Data may also be accessed by other Deltatre Group companies based inside and outside the European Union due to the global approach of the company.

The Company, also, with your specific consent, may share your data with the other companies of the Group, based inside and outside the European Union, so that the latter can evaluate your candidacy for other positions opened at Group companies.

5.      INTERNATIONAL TRANSFER

As a globally active company, Deltatre may have to transfer your data to countries that do not belong to the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA) (hereinafter the "Third Countries") in which the Company or other companies of the Group have their headquarters or operate.

In this case, the Company will provide appropriate safeguards for such cross-border transfers, in accordance with the provisions of the law; these include the use of standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission. These clauses impose similar obligations in the protection of data directly for the recipient unless we are allowed by the applicable data protection law to transfer data without such formalities. Some third countries, such as Canada and Switzerland, have been authorised by the European Commission as they provide protection similar to that of EEA data protection legislation and therefore no additional legal protections are required.

  • supplement any incomplete Data;
  • limit the processing of your Data;
  • receive your Data in a structured and commonly-used format that is legible by an automatic device (portability);
  • revoke, at any time, the consent given to share your data with other companies of the Group for the purposes specified in paragraph 2.2.

At any time, you have the right to object to the use of your Data, in whole or in part, for legitimate reasons.
